In memory of Anne Kantor AO (1935-2022)

We are saddened by the passing of Anne Kantor AO (1935-2022) after a life of service to the community.

Anne Kantor was known for her advocacy, environmental activism, and philanthropy. She gave financial support to a range of areas including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, social welfare, arts, education, and the environment.

The Kantor family has also made significant contributions to rainforest conservation in Northern NSW and Far North Queensland, through the philanthropy of Anne Kantor herself and her son Martin (dec).

The distinguished Australian, sister of Rupert Murdoch and daughter of Dame Elizabeth received an Officer of the Australian Order (AO) in 2016 in recognition for her life’s work.

The Australia Institute, one of many causes Kantor supported, runs two fellowship programs in her name, The Anne Kantor Fellowship (General) and The Anne Kantor Young Women Environmentalists Fellowship with further information available at the Anne Kantor Fellowship website.
