Gold Coast photographer Shots-Fired. by James Wills saw this Lamington Spiny Crayfish (Euastacus sulcatus) seen at Springbrook National Park in February. It's a freshwater crayfish, or "yabby" that's bright blue in colour and roams the forest floor when conditions are damp. If encountered can be very aggressive waving its claws back over its head and hissing audibly. Can deliver a painful nip if handled. They're a protected species only found along the border of Queensland and NSW between Springbrook and Main Range above 300m altitude. Congratulations to Shots-Fired. by James Wills on a great find and a wonderful photograph.
