Land Purchase to Save the Daintree

Urgent! The race is on to buy back land in the Daintree Rainforest before it’s developed for housing. In the mid 1980’s the Queensland Government approved a 1,100-lot rural residential subdivision in the Daintree Lowland Rainforest in Far North Queensland. This resulted in two-thirds of the rainforest being excluded from protection in the Daintree National Park. We are buying this land to add to the Daintree National Park where it will be protected forever. Each $2.50 you donate will buy one square metre of the Daintree Rainforest, habitat for Endangered wildlife including Cassowaries and Bennetts Tree-kangaroos. Please, take action now.

Road Closure to Save the Daintree

Over 50 km of roads were constructed in the Daintree Lowland Rainforest in the 1980’s as part of a disastrous rural residential subdivision. Now a significant milestone in the long struggle to save the Daintree Rainforest is within reach with the opportunity to begin closing and revegetating some of these roads. With your help over the next year we will close five sections of road. Each $10 you donate will help us close roads in the Daintree Lowland Rainforest. We need your help to see this outcome is achieved. Please, take action now.

Homeless Cassowaries Need Your Help

Homeless cassowaries need your help! The Endangered Southern Cassowary is under threat from loss of habitat - 75% of Australia’s tropical rainforests have been cleared. We can’t let the Cassowary go extinct when the solution is so simple – planting trees to restore habitat. For each $10 you donate a tree will be planted in the Daintree Lowland Rainforest to grow new homes for cassowaries and improve their chances of survival.

The proposed bridge across the Daintree River would destroy the World Heritage rainforest and must be stopped.

By having the bridge there, it will have a huge flow-on effect in the increase of the number of vehicles on roads, on the endangered species that would be killed, like cassowary and other endangered species. It would also destroy the highly sensitive ecosystems, which needs to be protected.

This is the oldest rainforest on the planet, with an unbroken evolutionary history going back over 120 million years to the first flowering plants. Let’s not change that now.

All this must be protected and not exploited.

    NO BRIDGE!
