A formal submission and a petition signed by over 8,000 people have been presented to the Douglas Shire Council in opposition to the proposed bridge over the Daintree River
Thank you to everyone who signed our petition to stop the proposed bridge across the Daintree River. We have delivered the petition to the Douglas Shire Council on Friday the 23rd of October.
As part of our campaign to stop this ill-conceived project, we made a formal submission to the Douglas Shire Council. We also published an open letter outlining our concerns and put together a list of ten reasons why a bridge over the Daintree River is a terrible idea.

If you were one of the 8,456 people who signed the petition, thank you for your support! We will hear of the decision of the Douglas Shire Council in early December and we will let you know the result.
Last week we used a drone to take photographs of the site for the proposed bridge. This gave us a birds-eye view of the existing ferry and the Daintree River and what's at risk from development. We also captured a short video which is really worth watching.
